Some Basics On Conserving Energy And Resources At Domestic Level

The world has significantly reduced the percentage of its natural resources in the recent times. A few things are very necessary at this hour:

  1. Switching to non-renewable sources of energy (which includes electricity, primarily) such as affordable and economically viable solarisation.
  2. Decreasing the pollution of present fresh water resources and depletion of ground water level
  3. Decreasing our heavy dependence on ground water and start water conservation of water and water harvesting at industrial and domestic levels
  4. Judicial use of water and electricity at domestic levels

in this article our focus is specifically on the conservation and preservation of energy and resources (water primarily) at domestic levels.

In this article our primary focus will be water. Human beings can consume only fresh water which makes for only about 2.5 percent of net water on earth. The remaining is saline water which is not for human consumption (directly). Then from this 2.5 percent fresh water, about 68 percent is found in glaciers and icecaps, which again are directly not accessible to human beings for direct consumption. Surface water is 1.2 percent (rivers, lakes, ponds, springs) and the ground water makes for 30 percent of net fresh water. As you can see, the percentage is pretty bleak given the fact that dependence on water is fast increasing, in both residential area consumption, industrial area consumption, and agriculture.

For residential water usage, the primary source is ground water. Our heavy dependence on ground water is causing the ground water table to deplete very rapidly. The need of the hour is sustainable usage of water and consumption at both domestic level and industrial levels.

At domestic levels there are infinite ways in which you are wasting water. For instance, leakages. Leakages in the water system is one of the major reasons why people tend to lose water. This is why it is very important that it is fixed at the earliest. And leakages can happen from anywhere. One of the most common form of leakage is leakage from dripping faucets. These are often overlooked. Even if the intensity of the leakage is less, it can lead to loss of a lot of water. You have to be responsive and you need to call in a plumber to fix the issue.

Then there are some leakages which happen in the internal pipelines and when that happens you will find wet patches on the wall or the ceiling. Sometimes Mould formation may also be a result of water leakage. Leakage of this type not only wastes water but also can decrease the supply of water at the outlets and damage the walls of the house.
